December 4 marked the third biennial gathering of members of the National Association of Catholic Youth Ministry Leaders.
More than 100 members experienced a day of professional development and strategic goal setting.
Professional development included sessions led by Ann Marie Eckert of the Center for Ministry Development, Frank Mercadante of
Cultivation Ministries and Sister Eileen McCann, CSJ of the USCCB. Topics included responding to our baptismal call to ministry, approaches to evangelizing youth, and developing a professional approach to youth ministry.
Members from all 14 episcopal regions identified and prioritized strategic goals for NACYML. The goals will be published when approved at the leadership team meeting this spring.
Each of the speakers and their organizations offered attendance prizes, including:
- A registration for the 2010 Fashion Me a People Conference (Center for Ministry Development)
- A registration for the New Youth Ministers Institute (Cultivation Ministries) and a World Youth Day registration (USCCB)
- Members in attendance at NCCYM were eligible for gift card drawings, and Steve Grass was the winner of a five-Year NACYML membership.
NACYML continues to work with Ministry Training Source in offering OnCourse, a series of online education and retreat opportunities.
Discernment of new leadership team members is under way.
