Region 12 Reconnects Person-to-Person
Region 12 held its first face-to-face gathering in several years this past May. Six of the eleven dioceses were present. Considering the vast geography in Region 12 (there are three time zones in the region), gathering six of the dioceses together for a face-to-face meeting was quite a feat. The region has experienced a lot of financial difficulties in recent years with three dioceses going through bankruptcy and major downsizings and turnover of diocesan staff. Currently, there are some great diocesan directors within the region and I am excited about the renewed energy I saw at our recent region meeting.
Updates throughout the Region
Some of our dioceses already collaborate with youth conferences. We are exploring having some join trainings or regional trainings. And we are looking into coordinating nongathered training within the region. After the success of our recent region meeting, we have already scheduled next year’s region meeting in Boise. Through enthusiastic use of conference calls and region iNet space, our region will continue to collaborate across time zones!
