Region 9
Prayer, formation and camaraderie are key elements of Region 9. For the past two years, Leigh Sterten, of the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese and Ministry Training Source, has shared information on the NSYR. Through both presentations, we have been able to connect the study more directly to the dioceses in our region, primarily in our rural settings. This past spring, taking the lead from NFCYM, Pat Finan from the Diocese of Davenport joined Leigh in connecting the NSYR with the National Directory for Catechesis. These in-services have made us aware of the challenges ahead, while surfacing insights to address them.
This year, camaraderie was taken to a higher level at the high ropes course at Prairie Star ranch, the camp of the Archdiocese of Kansas City. Diocesan directors worked together through the course’s challenges, zoomed down the zip lines together, or tore through the woods on four-wheelers and dune buggies. In the process, relationships are strengthened and a healthier faith community grows within Region IX.
The next regional meeting is April 10-12 at the St. Thomas More Center, a diocesan camp in the Diocese of Des Moines.
