Australian Youth Leaders Gear Up for World Youth Day and Beyond

The Australian Network of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators (ANDYMC) is a network of member dioceses across Australia. We have had informal links with the NFCYM since 1999 and recently became collaborating members.

AustraliaThe Australian dioceses are working hard to prepare for World Youth Day (WYD), to be held in Sydney next July 15-20. Each diocese also is preparing for the journey of the WYD cross and icon. Many new youth ministry positions have been created because of the preparations.

ANDYMC will gather in October at the same time as the Pontifical Council for the Laity’s WYD08 Briefing and hopes to meet with international guests at this meeting.

An ANDYMC task group is developing a national vision for youth ministry in conjunction with the Australian Bishops Commission on Pastoral Life. The vision has an online component as well as two gathered conferences. WYD is inspiring the development of this vision.

Please keep all of us in your prayers as we journey toward World Youth Day and beyond. For more information about WYD, go to www.wyd2008.org
