Region 4 Responds to Changing Times with New Focus
Region 4 has paid attention to the signs of the times and changed its focus.
Its leaders have met for the past year to determine what type of structure best serves Catholic youth ministry in the region, which includes Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia and the Archdiocese of Military Services.
Realizing that individual offices have evolved and that some existing programs and initiatives might not be as necessary today, Region 4 restructured the way it meets and redefined its tasks as a region.
In addition to the important element of peer support, Region 4 will focus on:
- enhancing the professional development and in-service of diocesan staff on important trends or ideas in ministry
- enhancing advocacy for ministry in Region 4 and outreach to church leaders, especially helping bishops become better informed on youth issues and youth ministry.
Among many recent events in Region 4 was a Summit on Confirmation held May 9 in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The gathering focused on the question, “Are we doing confirmation the best we can?” Podcasts and video can be found at
