Membership Management Committee

The hospitality at the membership meeting in Austin was excellent (although I was disappointed that I was one of the few that did not win a raffle prize). Thanks to task group co-leaders Colette Kennett and Anna Scally and the entire task group for their great job. Also, much thanks to Matthew Robasziewicz and all the others from the Diocese of Austin on a job well done.

The NFCYM Awards task group thanks all who sent in nominations. Thanks to the many regions that sent in a number of deserving nominations. At the April board meeting, the board looked at the slate of recommendations for each of the awards as recommended by the NFCYM Awards task group. Thanks to Leota Roesch for heading this task group.

National Association of Catholic Youth Ministry Leaders (NACYML) Thanks to the many regions and individuals that took the time and energy to critique the proposed NACYML this past year. Thanks also to the NACYML task group, headed by Grace Cassetta, for all the hard work of integrating the suggestions. Congratulations to all on the approval of this new Association at the membership meeting. Now for the work . . . immediately following the membership meeting, the NFCYM Board approved the initial leadership team of NACYML. This leadership team is now working on getting NACYML off the ground by NCCYM in Pittsburgh. This work includes: drafting SOPs, advertising, planning for a launching event at NCCYM, planning a website, drafting a job description for the part-time staff, etc. Much work is to be done before NACYML is launched in December.

Other tasks that are in the works include:

  • bettering the system for existing collaborating members, reviewing applications for potential collaborating members
  • reviewing the possibility of diocesan directors research study
  • forming a task group to begin planning for NFCYM’s 25th Anniversary
  • looking into a suggestion to offer personal liability insurance for youth ministry leaders.
