Publishing Management Committee
The PMC recently held another very productive conference call in early March. The committee is undertaking a variety of projects at this time, including:
Writing Guidelines for NFCYM Electronic Media
The PMC is finalizing work on Writing Guidelines for authors composing materials intended for electronic publication. As the universe of youth ministry resources shifts more and more into the “virtual” realm, the committee felt that it was important to create a tool that would guide authors on the key points of creating concise, user-friendly documents in this medium. Please review the Guidelines when they are placed on the NFCYM’s website and I-net in the near future.
NFCYM PMC Member Manual on Processes and Procedures
The committee continued its review of a new PMC member and task group chair manual, a resource for both PMC members and chairs of its task groups. It will contain the SOPs for the operation of our committee, all authors who compose materials, and resources to be published by the NFCYM. The manual will include the aforementioned Writing Guidelines for NFCYM Electronic Media.
Web Review Task Group
Patrick Donovan has agreed to chair the PMC’s Web Review Task Group, and several members have been recruited to serve on this team. The group will serve as a clearinghouse to ensure the maintenance of high standards regarding quality content and consistent format for materials published on the NFCYM’s public website. If you would like to join this task group, please contact
Patrick Donovan.
Youth Ministry Resource Manual
Work is well underway on the 2006 Youth Ministry Resource Manual. The title for this year’s manual is Catholic to the Core, and the publication will focus on key issues related to Catholic identity. The manual will be available for review and purchase at NCYC in Atlanta.
Technology Update
The PMC (as well as other committees) will soon begin to use a new technology that will greatly enhance the team’s ability to share, review, and revise documents and related materials. This new technology will (hopefully) significantly enhance the efficiency of the committee in reviewing and approving documents when not in a face-to-face meeting.
