The Diocese of Jackson, (in Mississippi) is looking for a diocesan coordinator for youth ministry. The Coordinator for youth ministry provides direct support and development of parish based youth ministers in the outreach and evangelization to, faith formation and pastoral care of their youth. This support includes training, consultation, and resources for a comprehensive program for all parish youth ministers in ministry to their youth (junior high and senior high; grades 7 through 12). This requires a diocesan-wide outreach and ministry to youth which ideally might include the formation of multi-parish regional areas. The coordinator would also oversee the coordination of diocesan-supported youth ministry events at the diocesan, regional, and national levels. The successful candidate must have a BS/BA. A Master’s degree in Theology or Youth Ministry Certification preferred. A minimum 5 years of full time parish/diocesan youth ministry or related ministry experience required. A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing is also required. Experience with Hispanic Ministry desirable. The Director of Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Raleigh, serves to foster, strengthen, and support the adult leadership necessary for comprehensive and culturally appropriate youth ministry in diocesan, parish, school, and community settings, through training, formation, and resourcing. Oversees diocesan programs that lead youth to deeper faith development and ensures that all programs and personnel reflect an understanding of the mandate to safeguard young people and their environments. Position also supervises/provides feedback to staff and prepares/maintains annual departmental budget. Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish required.
