E-2: Keys to Risk Management: How to Protect Your Kids, Your Volunteers, and Your Church

Sponsored by Group Publishing

Jim Knowles, Director of Meetings and Events, Group Publishing

Confused about the whole process of making your church a safe place? Get the scoop on background checks and other risk management practices.

E-3: Pray Who You Are: Creating Innovative Liturgical Prayer Experiences Using Traditional Sources

Chris Weber, Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Muscatine Catholic Community, Muscatine, Iowa

This workshop will enable youth ministry leaders to find innovative ways to use conventional liturgy sources (i.e. the Lectionary, Sacramentary, Book of Blessings, The Rites of the Catholic Church, and the Liturgy of the Hours) in developing prayer experiences for young people. It will also address the dangers of bringing labels such as conservative, liberal, traditionalist, modernist, etc. to the table when it comes to helping young people pray.

E-4: Fostering a Deep and Ultimate Respect for Life

Sponsored by OCP

Steve Angrisano, an internationally recognized singer, songwriter and storyteller and emcee of the 2005 NCYC in Atlanta

E-5: Volunteers Needed! Volunteers Respond. What’s the Secret?

Rich Curran, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Diocese of Green Bay

Let’s face it, every ministry needs volunteers. But why are some parishes more successful than others in recruiting and keeping volunteers?  Ten things every ministry needs to know.

Mike Patin, National speaker, trainer and consultant from New Orleans, LA

Programs, teens, volunteers, budgets, expectations, an active growing discipleship, and some form of a personal life outside of the church—how does a person do it all? Come, laugh and take a second look at how we go about this demanding ministry.

E-10: Cultivating Spirituality in a Technological and Consumerist Culture

Dr. Richard R. Gaillardetz, Professor of Catholic Studies, University of Toledo

E-11: Will Our Faith Have Children? A Closer Look at the Impact of the National Study of Youth and Religion

Terri Telepak, Veteran youth ministry leader as a teacher, youth minister, diocesan director, and NFCYM Executive Board Member

You would be amazed (or maybe not) at what Catholic kids believe about God, Church, parents, and their faith. Our teens are experience-rich and language-poor. As ministers, catechists, and educators, it’s good for us to know the good news and bad; and once you hear it, the question is “What are you going to do about it?”!
